Kids in the Kitchen is Back!

We’re back!

We are so excited to be back with the Kids in the Kitchen series in the Get Nourished with Renata FB group

This summer is perfect time to get your kids in the kitchen and make some fun, and delicious, memories.

Everything Bagel Avocado and Egg Toast

A lot of parents ask me questions about how to get their kids to eat veggies. One of the methods I suggest is to get the kids more involved in the cooking process.

Kids can help pick out a few menu items for the week, they can help set and clear the table and most importantly they can help cook! Kids who cook or are involved with the family meals are more inclined to try new ingredients, such as vegetables. But also, they generally feel a greater sense of ownership and pride in the food that is placed in front of them.

Cooking with your kids reinforces fine motor, math and problem solving skills. You can discuss the chemistry of the interactions between ingredients, like what happens during baking. You can also talk about the history of certain recipes or why ingredients were used in particular areas of the world.

Cooking can open up lots of amazing conversations with your kids! And that helps to create not only incredible memories, but also yummy and nutritious food!

Kids in the Kitchen

In this week’s episode of Kids in the Kitchen, we are making two recipes for breakfast.

The first recipes is a super simple Yogurt Juice Shake Up inspired by The Teddy Bears Picnic Cookbook. This recipe only uses 2 ingredients and is a piece of cake for kids to help with. Plus they will be getting a boost of protein and probiotics in addition to a yummy breakfast drink.

The second recipe is one of my faves! It sounds very fancy but is actually super easy to make. It’s an Everything Bagel Avocado and Egg Toast. This breakfast is savory, crispy, creamy and delicious! This is great recipe for kids that you can supervise using the stove top or an electric skillet.
