How to Make Time for Your Health

Almost everyone would like to improve their health. After all, who doesn’t want to look and feel great? But, for many people, improving their health is not as simple as hitting the gym, following a diet plan, or starting a new health kick. There is one thing that stands between most people and improving their health, and that is a lack of time.

When you have kids to look after, a house to run, a job to work, and all the other tasks associated with being an adult to handle, there is very little time left over to do anything else. Many people find there are simply not enough hours in the day to complete all the tasks they need, let alone find time to attend a fitness class.

If you find yourself in a time-poor situation and are keen to develop healthier habits, you may feel like you will be waiting for years before you have the opportunity. But, this does not need to be the case! The good news is there are ways to reclaim your health and nurture yourself while also juggling a busy lifestyle. These tips will show you how you can make time for your health.

3 Tips to Make Time for Your Health

Tip #1: Speed Up Mealtimes

Mealtimes can be about refuelling as fast as possible when you are busy. However, this means relying on convenience foods and takeouts rather than home-cooked meals. Eating in a rush and choosing highly-processed foods because they are quick and easy may seem like a solution when you have little time. However, these foods can leave you feeling worse in the long run. Many people that eat a lot of takeouts and processed foods find their energy levels are low and stress and anxiety levels high.

Finding foods you can prepare quickly and easily that are still healthy is essential to overcome this issue. Finding out how to make simple, fast, yet nutritious dishes, such as how to make potato soup in an instant pot, or this Chicken and Lentil Curry Soup, is an excellent solution. Once you have discovered a few quick and easy home-cooked recipes, it will be much easier for you to eat healthily every day.

Chicken and Lentil Curry Soup in the Instant Pot is a time-saver meal and is so good for you too!

Tip #2: Build Exercise Into Your Routine

When you have no time to hit the gym, you can still exercise without knowing it. Making a conscious effort to build exercise into your routine is a great help. Walking instead of hopping in the car, taking a wander around at lunchtime rather than sitting at your desk, or even attacking the housework with vigor are great ways to increase your activity levels.

Tip #3: Maximize Your Sleep

Everyone knows sleep is essential to wellness, but not many people get enough sleep. Maximizing the amount of sleep you get is an excellent way to feel healthier. You can increase your sleep by going to bed to sleep rather than watching television or scrolling through your phone. It is easy to waste time reading your phone when you could enjoy a great night’s sleep, so making sleep a priority is a great idea.

I hope this helps you understand some of the key reasons why cheat days might be beneficial. The mistake you need to avoid here is a cheat day becoming the norm or simply taking too many. If you do this, then you risk ending up yo-yo dieting. This occurs when you switch between a healthy diet and a diet filled with junk. It will cause your body to struggle to lose weight in the long term because it gets used to you putting it on and taking it off at regular intervals.

These 3 tips can really make a difference when working more healthy choices into your busy day. Start by choosing one of these tips and trying it out for about a week. Reflect and see if you noticed any improvements with things like your energy levels and mood. Then pick another habit to add on and start implementing that one too.

Remember, getting healthy doesn’t have to mean a huge 180 degree change from who you are today. Instead, focus on small repeatable habits that you can do consistently. This is really the key to making time for your health: consistent habits that fit into your day.
