5 Easy Meals You Can Cook on a Lazy Saturday

Too Tired to Cook?

What do you usually eat on a Saturday evening when you feel too tired to cook? Chances are you probably order take-out. While this can save you time, doing it frequently can affect your health.

You may not be able to maintain a healthy weight, and many people who rely on ordering fast food often have issues with high cholesterol, heart disease and high blood pressure. So to help you avoid all that, here are 5 easy meals you can cook on a lazy Saturday!

Chicken Lettuce Wraps

The perfect thing about these Chinese-inspired chicken lettuce wraps is that it takes less than 30 minutes to make. It's fantastic to make on a lazy Saturday when you want something easy and flavorful. These wraps also taste like a gourmet meal! (And added bonus, no one will know it took you the least amount of effort to whip up.)

Feel free to swap out the chicken for your favorite protein source too, or try this easy tuna salad.

Baked Salmon

When you're feeling lazy on a Saturday, baked salmon is a great go-to recipe since it only takes 20 minutes to make. Start by preheating the oven to 400°F and lining a pan with aluminum foil. Place the fish on the tin foil and squeeze half a fresh lemon over the top and salt and pepper for taste.

Bake in the oven for 15 minutes or until the fish is flaky. For a side dish, try roasted asparagus with parmesan cheese and lemon juice on top! Also, here's a recipe for easy baked salmon in foil in oven if you want to try a new method of baking salmon!

Pesto Pasta or Pizza

Pesto pasta or pizza is an option for an easy meal to make on a lazy Saturday. For an easy pesto pasta recipe, cook your favorite pasta till al dente, or still with a little bite to it (not mushy!). Once cooked, toss the pasta with your favorite pesto sauce and any extra fun additions like chopped cherry tomatoes, cooked shrimp etc.

Pizza is also an excellent option for lazy Saturdays as well. You can either make your own pizza dough, or stock up on some fresh dough from the grocery store. You may even have a fave frozen pizza base. While your oven preheats, lightly grease a baking tray, then place your rolled out pizza dough on it. Lightly pesto (or go traditional and use a marinara) over the dough. Then, add your favorite toppings. Bake in a hot oven for about 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Serve it with some salad on the side.

Fried Rice with Kimchi

Fried rice is like comfort food to me and its a wonderful way to use up any leftovers in the fridge. Add an extra special Saturday night spin to your fried rice, by adding some kimchi! Kimchi is a spicy Korean fermented cabbage dish, that adds so much flavor but is also a great source of probiotics.

Simply stir fry leftover rice with any chopped veggies and meat you have available. Then crack a couple of eggs into the hot pan and stir quickly as the egg cooks.

Serve alongside your favorite kimchi. If you've never tried kimchi before, start with a small amount and mix it into your fried rice to disperse the heat. Kimchi can be super spicy and oh so addictive! You might just become hooked!

Here's my favorite fried rice recipe with a healthy twist! You can also make this with quinoa instead of rice.
