Travels and Trying New Things

When I traveled to Washington DC with my husband in May, we stopped at an awesome Australian-inspired cafe called Bluestone Lane. They had this drink on the menu that I had never heard of before called a Beet Latte.“What the heck is that?” I thought.I suddenly remembered that, the day before, my business coach and friend, Tina Bangel, had told me she recently had a Beet Latte and suggested I try one.So when the opportunity arose at Bluestone Lane cafe to try a Beet Latte, I jumped on it!It was a muggy, summer day in DC, so I opted to get the Iced Beet Latte. When the Iced Beet Latte arrived at the table, it was a vibrant shade of fuschia. It was topped with a sprinkling of cinnamon and smelled like a dessert. When I took my first sip of the Iced Beet Latte, I have to say, I was a bit underwhelmed. The flavor was very earthy, not very sweet and the cinnamon and ginger spices were very subtle.I thought to myself, I can make a bold flavored Iced Beet Latte at home! So I set about to do it!

A Great Refreshing Drink

The great thing about an Iced Beet Latte is that it’s a caffeine-free alternative to the traditional Iced Latte. Sometimes when I have too much caffeine, it can really mess with my stomach, so I like to find alternatives that I can have instead of coffee or tea.Iced Beet Latte

Nutritious Beets!

Beets are highly nutritious. Did you know that in 100g of cooked beets there is about 20% of your recommended daily intake (RDI) of Folate, 16% RDI of Manganese and 9% RDI of Potassium!Beets have even been shown to reduce blood pressure within a few hours. One cup of beets also contains 3.4g fiber, which helps with digestion and beets are a great low calorie and super versatile vegetable.

Kitu Super Creamer

When I started making the Iced Beet Latte, I experimented with a few different creamy additions. But the best, by far, was the Kitu Vanilla Super Creamer! You may have heard me mention Kitu Super Creamer before in my Iced Chocolate recipe, but this healthy and delicious creamer can be used in even more awesome ways.Kitu Super Creamer makes the Iced Beet Latte taste like a marshmallow! Plus the Super Creamer contains MCT oil, a great healthy fat that can help with cognitive function and improve mood. Kitu Super Creamer also contains whey protein but no lactose. It’s pretty amazing stuff! I can’t get enough of it!The Kitu Super Creamer really took this Iced Beet Latte to another level. Its sweetness, from monkfruit sweetener, perfectly complements the cinnamon and ginger spices in the latte. If you'd like to try some of this delicious Kitu Vanilla Super Creamer, just click this link here.
