How to Help Your Kids Express their Emotions with Rachel Brown

Have your kids ever struggled to express how they are feeling, no matter how hard you try? Rachel Brown, CEO of Chakra Kids, a global movement to help kids with their mental and emotional health, is here to help!

Rachel, recently honored with the Holistic Health Therapist award in the UK, brings together science and energy techniques to help our kids express themselves, even when they don’t yet have the vocabulary to do so. Rachel is also one of the incredible speakers at the upcoming Embrace Your Power in Motherhood virtual event, on July 5 at 2 pm CST.

I am honored to share with you this powerful interview and sneak peek of what Rachel has in store for us at the upcoming Embrace Your Power event!

Exclusive Interview with Rachel Brown

Renata: Please introduce yourself and what you do.

Rachel: Hi, I’m Rachel, CEO and founder of Chakra Kids, a global company that supports children to manage and express their emotions and build their confidence, self belief and positivity using fun and engaging activities so that they can step into their truth and shine like the stars they are.

Renata: I am so excited to hear you speak at the upcoming Embrace Your Power in Motherhood event. What will you be speaking about?

Rachel: I am going to be talking about the link between energy, emotions and colour, a little bit about the science behind this and how we can support our children to express their emotions through simple, fun activities, at the point they feel them rather than suppress them which can lead to future mental and physical health issues.

Renata: Why is this topic so important for you and for other mothers/mothers-to-be to hear about?

Rachel: Being a mum is difficult. We are asked to wear so many hats and when your children are struggling, we often feel it is our fault in some way particularly when they can’t tell you what’s wrong.

The trouble is children often struggle to verbalise how they are feeling and the more you try to find out the more frustrated and anxious you become and the more withdrawn your child can become.

If however you ask them what colour they feel, they are much more likely to be able to tell you and knowing this we can then encourage our children to do simple fun activities linked to the unique properties of the colours that will allow your child to express their emotions even if they don’t know what they are feeling

We are experiencing a mental health crisis and children today are under so much pressure; pressure from society, social media, education let alone the pandemic. In fact there are now 1:6 children struggling with a mental health issue compared to 1 in 9 in July 2017 and with 50% of adult mental health cases occurring before the age of 14 it is vital we do something now.

As an Holistic Therapist and qualified Pharmacist with experience teaching and working in special needs schools, as a parent of a dyslexic child and as someone who has experienced a chronic illness for many years, I understand how frustrating it can be both as a parent and from the child’s point of view when they are struggling and can’t explain what is wrong and it is my mission to change the trajectory or children’s mental health, help you and your child deal with adversities and manage their emotions so the whole family can grow and thrive in an environment where everyone feels understood, respected and valued

Renata: Will you be giving away any special bonuses at this event?

Rachel: Yes!! I will be offering everyone who attends a copy of my FREE guide “From tantrums and anxiety to calm and contentment - 7 ways to help your child find their magic rainbow within”

And

A complimentary 30 minute call to discuss specific emotions and behaviours that your child is exhibiting and that are concerning you

Renata: What is one piece of advice you would give to mothers and mothers to be?

Rachel: Encourage daily gratitude. Maybe whilst everyone is sitting down to dinner, go round the table and write down one thing that everyone loved about the day or was grateful for then put them all in a jar and at the end of the month tip them out and see how many amazing things happened.

This simple activity has the power to lift your mood and turn your focus towards the positive rather than the negative and once you feel more positive you will begin to notice even more to be grateful for.
