Kids in the Kitchen: St Patrick's Day Smoothie Bowls πŸ€

Dean wants to show you a recipe!

Today's Kids in the Kitchen recipe is a special request from Dean. He wanted to show you how to make his favorite smoothie, a Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie, but transforming it into a smoothie bowl!

And in the spirit of St Patrick's Day, we are adding some fun toppings to make this a super festive St Patrick's Day Smoothie Bowl.

St Patrick's Day Smoothie Bowl

Smoothie FTW!

Smoothies are one of our favorite quick breakfasts or snacks because it is super quick and easy to make. I add protein powder to get a surge of nutrients into the kiddos. Protein can help you feel fuller for longer, as well as ensuring that your body and all its cells are working properly. If you don't have protein powder, you could also add yogurt, milk, or even tofu and soft beans to increase the protein content! You may also want to add a little extra sweetener since most protein powders contain stevia or cane sugar for sweetness.

This smoothie is a nutrition-packed powerhouse! It is full of healthy fats from the peanut butter and extra wholesome goodness from the chia seeds, which are high in protein, fiber and omega-3's.

Now for the toppings...

To make this recipe more festive, I initially wanted to go to the local grocery store to get green fruits to put on top of the smoothie bowl. But, there weren't many green fruits that were affordable, so I thought to myself, let's just make do with what I have!

In my baking cupboard, I found some green sprinkles which the boys fell in love with immediately. I mean, what's not to love about sprinkles?!

Then I sliced up a pear and used cookie cutters or my paring knife to make cute little shapes. This is a great opportunity to teach kids about shapes. Plus using cookie cutters is just fascinating for them!
